Bylaws, Platform & Resolutions

Bylaws

Review the bylaws for the Grays Harbor Democratic Central Committee by following the link below.  The bylaws are currently being reviewed and any recommendations for change will be reviewed by the membership.  The goal is to have this completed in 2010.  Meetings are open to the public, however, only PCOs and paid members of the Grays Harbor Democratic Club are able to vote on bylaw changes.

Platform

The platform is reviewed every two years at the county convention.   The current platform is here for your review and is also available at the bottom of this page in downloadable format.

2010 GHDCC Platform

The next county convention, which will include updating the platform, will occur in 2012.  These conventions are open to the public.  Anyone who is:
  • a registered voter within Grays Harbor County
  • a 17 year old residing in Grays Harbor County who will be eligible to register to vote by the next general election in November
  • and who willing to sign a statement saying "I consider myself a Democrat and am willing to be publicly known as a Democrat" may vote on the platform and resolutions (during a county convention only).
People who are not registered to vote in Grays Harbor County may participate and even offer platform suggestions.  However, they do not have a vote.  One may register to vote at the convention to become eligible to vote on platform and resolutions.

Resolutions

Resolutions passed by the GH Democrats will be added as soon as possible after passage.  When a resolution is passed it is usually forwarded to the Washington State Democrats to be considered for passage at their quarterly meetings.  If so, this will be indicated on the resolution itself.  The resolutions will be reviewed by the state party's resolutions committee who will either forward it for consideration as is or merge it with the same or similar resolutions forwarded by other county and legislative district party organizations.  While our meetings are open to the public, only PCOs and paid members can vote on resolutions.

People interested in reading resolutions passed by the Washington State Democrats can go here.  The state platform and bylaws can also be found there along with instructions on how to submit a resolution to the state party.

How to submit a resolution to the Grays Harbor Democrats?
Please read through the Resolution Instruction & Template (see documents below).  The Chair should be contacted and asked to have the resolution included on the agenda (contact information to the left).

How to vote on bylaws, platform, and resolutions?
Then join our party!   Contact the treasurer (see contact information in the column to the left).  Or attend a meeting and sign up there.  The GHDCC bylaws do not allow voting until the meeting after joining as a member.
